Portuguese powerhouse Benfica had a chance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals, going into the second leg down only 1-0 on aggregate. They had even more of a chance after Mexican striker Raul Jimenez put the hosts up 1-0 to tie the contest on aggregate.

Bayern Munich, however, are Bayern Munich, and nature took its course with goals by Arturo Vidal and Thomas Muller. Benfica pulled one back in the closing minutes, but were left two goals short of advancing (one to win the match, another to go up on goal differential).
Benfica, is should be said, put up a much stronger fight against Bayern Munich that most people expected. Sure, we didn't think they'd roll over, this is the Champions League quarterfinals after all, but bowing out because Bayern beat them 1-0 at Allianz Arena is pretty darn impressive.
