Lionel Messi registered his 50th professional hat trick Saturday, which led to another Twitter frenzy.
Messi now trails just Cristiano Ronaldo with regards to career hat tricks — Ronaldo has 51 three-score outings. The two are compared and argued over more than we’d like to admit. However, the GOAT discussion has officially ended.
Both players have received praise from about everyone in the world, but Messi has officially one-upped his rival with this unmatchable praise:
I'm leaving. Messi, take over.

That’s right. God himself has officially not only ended the GOAT discussions, but he has also left the keys to the universe in Messi’s hands (or feet, who knows).
Messi outscored Sevilla in Barca’s 4-2 win. Messi was not satisfied with his own three goals and felt selfish. He gracefully sent a beautiful pass over the top to Luis Suarez who ended any hope for Sevilla.
The assist also forced God’s hand into letting Messi take over.

It is unknown if Messi will still be able to lead Barcelona and Argentina while managing a universe, but if anyone could do it, it'd be him.
Although Messi has not publically responded to the promotion, a retirement announcement is expected of Ronaldo in the coming days.
