It was just another Sunday night in Liga MX. Pumas were on their way to victory against a hapless Monarcas de Morelia team that had already conceded two own goals. All UNAM needed to do was see out the game and collect three points. In the 58th minute, midfielder Javier Cortes Granados decided seeing out the game wasn't enough.
He needed to score the goal of 2016 so far in Liga MX. So that's what he did.
Amazing goal from Mexico! Javier Cortes, take a bow... pic.twitter.com/yeh2TFD4O9

The chip: audacious. The turn: outrageous.
And that's to say nothing of the build-up, which was excellent.
Cristiano admira mucho a Javier Cortés. pic.twitter.com/LAlVtrIEhE

We agree with Cristiano.
Monarcas de Morelia did manage to pull one back near the end of the match to make it 4-2, but the damage had already been done. Having a goal like that scored on you is pretty much a game-ender if the other team is already ahead. We commend them for not just giving up and going home and curling up into the fetal position. That's what we would have done.
