Paul Pogba’s life has become increasingly centered around all things dab. Introducing the goal celebration to Italy’s Serie A simply wasn’t enough for the 22-year-old Juventus midfielder, and now he’s gone and stenciled the word into his haircut.
That's right, Paul Pogba can now perma-dab. Like a bumper sticker or a graphic t-shirt, Pogba is letting you know where he stands by simply showing up. He’s got his whole squad behind him too. Pogba has formed the "dab team" at Juventus, including himself, Paula Dybala and Leonardo Bonucci.
Presumably, they spend their weekends dominating calcio before escaping from their employers and working as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire…the dab team.
The dab team was at its brilliant best on Wednesday as Juve hammered Hellas Verona 3-0. Dybala and Bonucci were among the goal scorers for the Old Lady. Dybala’s goal came from an imperiously struck free kick, culminating in, you guessed it, a dab alongside Pogba. After a slow start to the season saw Juventus languishing in midtable, they've now won eight consecutive Serie A matches. Probably thanks to the power of the dab.
Juventus currently sit in third place, only three points behind current league leaders Inter Milan.
We don’t know how far Pogba is going to take his reverence for the dab: maybe he’ll get it permanently inked on his face a la Mike Tyson, or maybe the dab team will challenge Liverpool’s dabbing duo of Nathaniel Clyne and Jordan Ibe to a bare-knuckled fisticuffs in an abandoned Liverpool shipping yard.
Either way, these are exciting times for the Prince of the Dab, Paul Pogba.
