Antoine Griezmann is one of the most charismatic players at the 2018 World Cup. The France forward generally delights fans with his Fortnite-inspired celebrations after goals. But the Fernando Muslera howler that gifted Griezmann his third goal of the tournament was so bad the goal scorer didn’t even celebrate as his team took a 2-0 lead on the way to a victory by the same score line against Uruguay.
France led 1-0 at halftime thanks to the heroics of Hugo Lloris. La Celeste pushed for an equalizer but could not have guessed they’d go down another goal in the manner that transpired next.
In the 61st minute, Griezmann lashed a shot from about 25 yards out. The ball went straight at Muslera, the Uruguay keeper. But the 32-year-old veteran of more than 100 caps and three World Cups whiffed on the save.
#MundialTelemundo ¡Vaya error! Muslera pudo hacer mucho más en el disparo de @AntoGriezmann . Aumenta la ventaja para #FRA sobre #URU. Así lo narró @sadovnik1965 pic.twitter.com/XKtevAT1xJ

Notice Greizmann didn’t even run around to celebrate the goal or use the “Take the L” emote. While the shot was powerful and knuckling, he knows a World Cup keeper should have saved that.
HOWLER by Fernando Muslera! He was caught leaning the wrong way on Griezmann's strike from distance, which then hit off his hands and bounced over the line. Terrible error on the biggest stage. #WhatAHowler#URUFRA #Uruguay #France #URU #FRA pic.twitter.com/ex3PX8AQ6d

The Muslera howler gave Griezmann a goal and an assist for France; he played in the ball Raphael Varane nodded home for the opener in the first half.
France will play either Brazil or Belgium in the semifinals.
