As William Shakespeare said, some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. Or, in the case of this midfield game winner from amateur Dutch side VV Capelle against FC Dordrecht in the Dutch Cup, some steal greatness from a pit of mediocrity and exhaustion.
“Achieve” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Capelle stunt in de beker door buurman FC Dordrecht uit te schakelen. Jordao Pattinama schiet de amateurs in de 112e minuut naar de laatste zestien. Wat een wereldgoal!

There is no shortage of inspiration to be found in this goal. Capelle’s midfield game winner came in the 112th minute of extra time against a team that they had no right scoring against; FC Dordrecht is a professional Dutch side operating in the country’s second division. Dordrecht are good enough at soccer to get paid to play it; Capelle are good enough at soccer to earn a “that’s nice, dear” from loved ones. Money can’t buy success, and this goal is as good of an example of that as anything.
That being said, Capelle weren’t exactly facing off against PSV Eindhoven or Ajax. Dordrecht were relegated from the first division last year, and currently sit in 8th in the second division this year. Conceding this sort of wonder goal to a bunch of amateurs must have been disappointing in a very…familiar kind of way.
As for the victorious amateurs of VV Capelle, this midfield game winner might go down as the highlight of their year. As it should be; this is the kind of goal that deserves to be remembered.
If you want some more amazing amatuer action (NO, not that. Get your mind out of the gutter), you should check out the best amatuer footballer in the world. It'll kinda make you want to tell him to get a real job.
There's also the most ridiculous instinctual volley we've ever seen. This guy just turns and shoots from the worst angle ever and scores. So you know, cool stuff, if your into that kind of thing.
