Watch: Ronaldo 500th Goal
What an achievement!
The break down of his complete goal scoring record is as follows: in 753 matches, Ronaldo has scored 500 goals (now it's 501, he just scored again against Malmo); in 122 national games for Portugal he has 55 goals; back when he was a youth he scored 5 goals for Sporting in 31 games; at Manchester United, where he made a name for himself, he has 118 goals in 292 games; finally, he has 322 goals for Real Madrid, his current club, in 307 games.
Clearing the 500 goal mark is a remarkable accomplishment for a player that has made his name doing remarkable things. Aside from averaging more than a goal per game at Real Madrid, Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or the past two years running, as well as the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup during that same time period.
Here is Ronaldo's second goal against Malmo:
With his two goals, Real Madrid beat Malmo on the day. They currently sit tied with Paris Saint Germain atop their Champions League group; both clubs have 6 points, and are the favorites to go through to the knock-out phase of the competition.
Last year, Real Madrid was knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus in the semifinals. Ronaldo scored in that game, but it was not enough to hold back a determined Juventus side that would eventually lose to Real Madrid's rival, Barcelona, in the final.
Both goals are vintage Cristiano Ronaldo: the goal scoring machine. He is arguably the best goal scorer in the world. There were times during the 14/15 season when he was averaging more than two goals-per-game, and while he didn't keep up that ridiculous scoring pace, he still scored 61 goals in all competitions.
