Three Mexican internationals started for FC Porto for the first time in the club’s history today.
Jesus Corona, Miguel Layun, and Hector Herrera were all a part of Julen Loptegeui’s team sheet as he selected the side that would face off against Moreirense.
Corona was almost the hero on the day. He scored a go-ahead goal in the 79’ minute that would have been the winner if not for a late Moreirense equalizer.

The goal was his third for Porto in three league matches.
Game winner or no game winner, the day on whole should be one of pride for Mexican fans. FC Porto has seemingly taken up the mantle as the go-to place for Mexican internationals with European ambitions. By fielding three of them today, the club shows that their acquisition is not just some marketing ploy, but a mark of competitive intent.
