Just days after announcing that he had won the race to be mayor of Cuernavaca, Mexico (the final, official results have yet to come in), former Club America and Mexican National Team legend Cuauhtemoc Blanco has landed himself in the hospital, ESPN Deportes reported.
The cause of Blanco's hospitalization is believed to be a stomach ailment caused by dehydration and changes in Blanco's diet during his campaign.
Blanco, 42, retired from professional soccer in April to run for mayor of Cuernavaca, his adopted hometown.
There was some speculation that Blanco was in the hospital because he had been shot because of an aggressive Facebook post, but there is no hard evidence of that so far.
