Alex Morgan and Lyon relied on their 2-0 first leg victory in Germany to advance to the Champions League semifinals after Wolfsburg won the return leg 1-0. The 2-1 aggregate victory sees them take on the winner of tomorrow’s match between Carli Lloyd’s Manchester City and Fortuna Hjorring.
With City currently holding a 1-0 advantage after the first leg in Denmark, a meeting between the two USWNT stars looks inevitable. Both cited their desire to play in the Champions League as a major reason for playing abroad, but only one side will advance to play either Barcelona or PSG in the final.
While Morgan was unable to find the back of the net at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, she was a constant threat throughout the match. She almost provided an assist with this threaded through ball, and she landed a couple of shots on target.

The Wolfsburg right back tasked with marking her was sent off at the end of the match for persistent fouling.
