Sweden’s national women’s team will no longer display their names on the back of their football shirts, but don’t worry the new jerseys will not disappoint.
The Swedish Football Association teamed up with Adidas for International Women’s Day. As part of the #InYourName campaign the women’s national team will promote positivity by displaying motivational messages on the back of their uniforms. According to the Swedish Football Association, the quotes are meant to “inspire and motivate other women to stand up for each other and themselves-and to show that nothing is impossible.” Each player will demonstrate inspirational quotes from well-known Swedish women, which the players chose from Twitter.
Captain Lotta Schelin explained, "Through #InYourName and together with other women, we want to express this message and encourage women to believe that they can do anything they set their mind to, and that they can also do so through teamwork." Schelin will be wearing a message from politician Gudrun Schyman, founder of the Feminist Initiative party. The quote reads, “Never look down on someone unless you’re helping her up.”

Midfielder Lisa Dahlkvist kept it simple with a message from singer/songwriter, Zara Larsson: “Believe in your damn self”. Attacker Olivia Schough’s shirt reads, "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always."
Ten percent of the proceeds from jerseys purchased will go to a Swedish organization supporting young female athletes.
