Former Manchester United youngster, Bebé, just scored one of the longest free kicks you’ll ever see for Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Cape Verde faced off against Mozambique in their second match of the AFCON group stage, looking to increase their lead as first place of Group B after defeating Ghana 2-1 in the first match day of the tournament.
In the 30th minute of the game and with a set-piece standing closer to the halfway line than to the opponent’s goal, a bold attempt at a direct shot to goal turned into one of the farthest free kicks you’ll ever see. Scored by none other than the iconic Bebé.
Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, better known as Bebé, prepared his run-up, looked directly at goal and knuckle-balled his free kick from over 40 yards to open the scoring in the Félix Houphouët Boigny Stadium.

The 33-year-old still has it. Bebé's goal helped Cape Verde defeat Mozambique 3-0, turning into the first team of the tournament to qualify to the Round of 16.
This was Bebé’s sixth international goals for Cape Verde in just 18 matches after debuting for the African nation in March of 2022.
The Portugal-born forward, after a handful of loan spells across Europe following his exit from Manchester United, has now settled as a regular for LaLiga club Rayo Vallecano. He's scored 24 goals and made 17 assists in 182 appearances since signing and having multiple stints for the club in 2018.
