Take a bow Mateo Coronel!
The 23-year-old midfielder for Atlético Tucumán in Argentina’s top flight scored one of the most impressive long-range goals this writer has ever seen during a 4-0 victory Tuesday night.
A typical goal from distance is around midfield and catches the goalkeeper out. Other long-range goals are ones like we saw from Union Omaha’s goalkeeper on Saturday that took two bounces before trickling into the goal.
This Mateo Coronel goal is different. With his side leading 3-0 in the final minute of Tuesday’s Argentine Primera División game vs. Barracas Central, Coronel pulled off something incredible.
After his opponents failed to convert on a corner kick, Coronel received the ball deep in his own half of the field. He took one touch to control the ball and then with no run-up he tried one of the most audacious shots ever seen.

Mateo Coronel. No tiene sentido escribir algo mas al respecto.

This was Coronel’s first goal of the season after 19 games. Talk about a way to open your season’s scoring account.
The fans in attendance at Estadio Monumental José Fierro were blessed with some truly tremendous goals. Coronel’s goal deserves a Puskás nomination right now. The fact the ball still went into the upper 90 of the goal after a bounce is absurd.
That wasn’t the only spectacular goal of the game. Cristian Menéndez opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a classy bicycle kick.
