There's no time like the present to increase your audience by splicing together whatever it is your doing with the global Stranger Things: Season 4 phenomenon, and the national teams of Austria and Denmark tapped into that golden content on Monday during a Nations League match at Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna.
It began with the flickering of lights — goddamn Vecna up in here — and a power outage that delayed kickoff by 90 minutes. Fans tried to illuminate the pitch with cellphones to get the action started, but after that failed they did the wave.

The match itself was full of twists and turns — like the curls on Dustin Henderson's head — as Pierre-Emile Højbjerg's 28th minute opener was cancelled out by Xaver Schlager in the 67th before Jens Stryger Larsen won it for Denmark in the final minutes.

There was still time for one final piece of plot action. As the players were leaving the field, a giant sinkhole formed. If you're playing at the park you stick a cone in there and get on with it, but FIFA regulations are a little more strict.
Austria hosts world champion France at the Ernst Happel Stadion on Friday. I fully expect Antoine Griezmann to be swallowed by the ground while doing his little dance.
