We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. Being a referee is one of the most thankless and brutal jobs a person choose. Refs are always the bad guy and, in sports, fans' and players' tempers can get the best of them.
In comes this clip from a Ukrainian amateur tournament from the Rivne region. According to 101 Great Goals, the story goes that during the Rivne Supercup FC, Mayak players were upset when a penalty was awarded against them. So Mayak substitute Igor Nosaryev decided to go Floyd Mayweather on the referee and cold clocked the poor bloke, sending him to the ground.
Here’s the kicker. After the referee got back on his feet, he attempts to reach for a card in his front pocket but then immediately forgets about it. Either the punch kicked in or he thought better to card the crazy guy who just put him on his back.
Can we also point out how there is zero uproar after the referee gets dropped? The linesman doesn’t even do anything! He just stares at his coworker on the ground and figures it's best to keep quiet. Way to have his back, linesman!
