Real Madrid and Portugal star Pepe has apparently found himself caught up in the holiday spirit as news of him buying a reported 9,000 kilos of food for 200 families surfaced last week. The food will go to families in the Las Rozas neighborhood of Madrid, and will go a long way in cheering up the holidays of a normally underprivileged area.
Star players giving or participating in other charitable exercises during the holiday season is nothing new, and it is always a pleasant reminder that people who get paid millions upon millions of dollars to kick a ball around do in fact think about those less fortunate than them every now and then.
In Pepe’s case, however, it is especially nice to see him participating. Pepe’s reputation on this pitch varies between bad boy, hot head and demolition man, and to see someone that so many people hate step up and take the high road sends a good message to fans and detractors, alike.

Let this be a lesson to all you trouble makers out there. If you are in serious risk of making the naughty list this Christmas, it’s time to buckle down and do some charity work. Help your parents with dinner, wash the dishes, buy 9,000 kilos of food for the underprivileged, Santa doesn’t care. Just put in some effort.
