The rabona method of kicking the ball hardly ever results in anything other than a change of possession. While many ridiculously talented players have successfully performed a rabona in competition, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Arjen Robben, it’s extremely rare that the method leads to anything apart from a largely ineffective attempt at crossing the ball.

More than being an effective striking method, it’s generally utilized as a demonstration of personal ability and tekkers.

Miami FC’s Jaime Chavez earned Friday’s ESPN SportsCenter top play after sweetly connecting with a volley from 16 yards out. With the scores level at 0-0 in the 16th minute, Chavez timed his ridiculous strike perfectly off of a Blake Smith cross-field pass.

Chavez is a 29-year-old native of California who has spent most of his career in the NASL with the Atlanta Silverbacks and Miami.

Unpopular opinion alert: I do not think Messi vomited in this video.

He looked like he heaved a little bit, and he definitely spit a couple times, but I do not believe those actions were related. He could have even been stifling a yawn. He perhaps triggered his gag reflex, but if so it did not lead to any vomit coming out of his mouth. 

Also, if he was vomiting, we admire the way he kept his focus on the game, because, in our experience, when one is vomiting it is very difficult to focus on anything besides the act of vomiting.
