Burnley Players Ashamed And Embarrassed By ‘White Lives Matter’ Flyover Banner

A plane carrying a banner declaring “White Lives Matter Burnley” flew over Manchester City's Etihad Stadium on Monday at the start of the Premier League game against Burnley.

The plane appeared shortly after players from both teams took a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. There was no indication who had organized the plane and banner.

José Mourinho's Statistics Rant Includes An Outrageously Incorrect Claim

Tottenham manager José Mourinho was less than pleased when asked about Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal player Paul Merson’s comments on Harry Kane not being able to score 25-30 goals a season under Mourinho's style of play. Rather than talking about Kane’s ability, Mourinho took a trip down memory lane to remind everyone of the strikers he's managed in the past.

Brace yourself for a tidal wave of numbers and averages, and pay close attention to Didier Drogba’s stats.

Belfast Club Forgets That Its New Kit Is Identical To Colors Used By Local Terrorist Organization

Linfield FC is the most successful team in Northern Ireland, winning the NIFL Premiership an astounding 53 times, but recently they made the news for another reason.

On June 10 they launched their new away kit for the 2020-21 season, which, upon first glance, looks like an awkward combination of purple with an orange sash.

Celta Vigo Granted Emergency Transfer For Injured Keeper, Signs Striker Nolito Instead

Celta Vigo’s backup goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez is out for the season with knee ligament damage he suffered in May. Due to Alvarez being out for the season, the Spanish football authorities granted Celta permission to make an emergency signing of another player in LaLiga or a free agent.

With the No. 2 keeper injured, most people would expect the club to sign a player to take his place. Instead, Celta decided that the only way to avoid relegation — only two points separates the club from the relegation zone — is with the signing of its former striker Nolito from Sevilla.

FIFA’s Response To Colombia’s 2023 Women’s World Cup Bid Angers All Of South America

Colombia's soccer chief and the head of South American football confederation CONMEBOL have written to FIFA complaining of "erroneous and discriminatory conclusions" in the assessment of the country's bid to host the 2023 Women's World Cup.

The Colombian proposal to bring the tournament to South America for the first time received the lowest score in an evaluation of three bids to host the tournament carried out by world soccer's governing body ahead of next Friday's vote.

David Luiz Is Enjoying The Finest Season In The History Of Memes

The Premier League returned Wednesday after a 100-day hiatus like it had just left its keys, wallet and cell phone. Nothing has changed: Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United featured a heinously controversial abuse of technology, and Manchester City vs. Arsenal continued the ballad of David Luiz.

Arsenal Academy Graduate Admits To Having Sex With 14-Year-Old

Former Bradford City left back Tyrell Robinson has admitted in court to engaging in sexual activity with an underage girl in August of 2018 and to distributing child pornography through Snapchat. Robinson could very well be facing jail time after being bailed and sentenced to a later date.

The 22-year-old was playing for Bradford in League One when the club first suspended him back in 2018. After police announced the charges against Robinson in February of 2020, Bradford released the winger for gross misconduct.

Fox Allows Entire First Half Of Match To Be Broadcast With Major Audio Glitch

Fox Soccer is giving fewer and fewer shits about the quality of content it puts out. On Tuesday, FS2 broadcast the entire first half of a Bundesliga match with the commentary audio off by few seconds. Set aside for a moment the fact Fox chose to broadcast a talk show on FS1 while relegating actual live sports to FS2, Tuesday’s audio glitch marks yet another example of Fox not caring one bit about the beautiful game.

Botafogo, Fluminense Say They’ll Defy Orders To Resume Play As Pandemic Rages In Brazil

Two of Brazil's top soccer clubs, Botafogo and Fluminense, said on Tuesday they would defy an order from their federation to resume playing competitively this week, as the country's daily coronavirus death toll hovers around 1,000.

The Rio de Janeiro state football federation proposed that the state championship, one of several state-wide tournaments that take place in Brazil before the national leagues begin in the second half of the year, restart on June 18, pending state government approval.
