This Was Either Really Heads-Up Attacking Or Really Bad Sportsmanship

Rangers climbed to the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 2-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle Stadium on Sunday, but the march to three points for Steven Gerrard’s men was greatly complicated by the straight red issued to Canadian international Scott Arfield in the 72nd minute.

Some great goalkeeping from Hearts' Zdeněk Zlámal resulted in two saves in a matter of seconds, including the second one on the goal-line. However, with the ball secured safely at the goalmouth, Arfield came crashing in with a horrendously late sliding challenge on the ball and Zlámal’s face.

Caleb Ekuban is a 24-year-old Italian striker who has already played for seven different clubs. Currently owned by Leeds United by on loan with Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor, Ekuban scored the most emotional goal of his young career.

Earlier this week, Ekuban’s mother passed away. He begged coach Ünal Karaman to let him play and the manager obliged by subbing him on in the 74th minute. Less than 10 minutes later, Ekuban netted the match winner, rising high to head in a free kick.
