American and Leeds United fans couldn’t have had a better Saturday as USMNT forward Brenden Aaronson grabbed a game-winner, sort of, in a 2-1 victory vs. Wolves. He and Tyler Adams looked great in their first Premier League game.

With the score tied at 1-1 late in the second half and Wolves looking the more threatening side, Leeds and manager Jesse Marsch needed something special. 

A dangerous and precise pass from Adams got the move started for Leeds and then a cross from Patrick Bamford found Aaronson for the winner in the 74th minute.

Following a season in which Leeds United barely survived relegation, this summer has brought on a tidal wave of incoming players in Yorkshire. While the big money departures of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips have made headlines, they have also brought in the revenue responsible for a completely revamped squad ahead of the 2022-23 Premier League season. Leeds United continued its preseason tour this week with a trip down under to face the Brisbane Roar. Former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson was named as a starter and almost kicked off his debut in spectacular fashion.

At present, the European football transfer revolving door is in full swing. Leeds United in England continued their United States theme with the addition of midfielder Tyler Adams from RB Leipzig on a $24 million transfer, ESPN reported.

Concacaf Nations League play resumes Tuesday night, with the U.S. men’s national team set to continue its title defense against El Salvador at the Estadio Cuscátlan in San Salvador. While El Salvador vs USMNT might not have the makings of a historic game on paper, for a large chunk of this roster there is still plenty to play for.

The United States men’s national team had a dominant 3-0 victory against Morocco on Wednesday that featured some great individual performances. RB Leipzig won its first major trophy since the club was founded 13 years ago on Saturday after defeating SC Freiburg 1-1 (4-2 on penalties). For the second year in a row an American player wins the DFB-Pokal with Tyler Adams collecting his first major trophy. Gio Reyna and Dortmund won last year.

Saturday’s DFB-Pokal has two polar opposite clubs competing for their first triumph in the tournament. For Freiburg this was the club’s first trip to the DFB-Pokal final in 118 years of existence. This was Leipzig’s third trip in the club’s 13 years of existence.
