Watch: Referee grabs wrong color card and almost sends off Chris Richards

United States men’s national team defender Chris Richards had a heart-in-mouth moment on Wednesday when he was shown the first red card of his career. Thankfully for the 23-year-old the red card was immediately rescinded.

During Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea the American defender — who plays a defensive midfielder role for Palace — took one for the team and committed a foul to halt a counterattack.

In the 73rd minute Noni Madueke had successfully dribbled past Richards and the USMNT player tried to pull on the Chelsea forward’s shirt to slow him down.

LAFC reportedly in advanced talks to sign Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris

Los Angeles FC reportedly are in talks to bring World Cup-winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to MLS.

Current club Tottenham Hotspur already gave the green light and the decision is now up to the 37-year-old French star, Italian soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported Thursday.

Watch: Sheffield United score two own goals in four-minute span during 3-2 loss to Luton Town

SHEFFIELD — Jack Robinson and Anis Ben Slimane scored own goals in the final 13 minutes as Sheffield United let a late lead slip and lost 3-2 to fellow Premier League strugglers Luton Town at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

United deservedly drew level just past the hour-mark as Oli McBurnie scored his third goal of the season, and they led when Luton failed to clear a cross and after a scramble in the box, Anel Ahmedhodzic scored.

Chris Wood scores THREE goals vs. former club Newcastle and doesn’t celebrate a single one

One unwritten rule of soccer that doesn’t really exist in other sports is the art of players not celebrating if they score a goal against a team they formerly played on.

Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood took that unwritten rule to heart on Boxing Day when netted a hat trick against his former club, Newcastle.

The New Zealand forward was the hero in Forest’s massive 3-1 victory but hardly celebrated as he followed the unwritten rule of not celebrating after scoring against a former team.

Watch: Chelsea had a 3-vs-1 on Wolves’ goalkeeper and still managed not to score

WOLVERHAMPTON — Wolverhampton Wanderers continued their stellar home form to heap misery on Chelsea on Christmas eve with a 2-1 win in the Premier League on Sunday, thanks to second-half strikes from Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty.

Chelsea's best chance of the first half fell to Raheem Sterling who stole the ball from last man João Gomes and sprinted into the Wolves box with only the keeper Jose Sa to beat.

USMNT’s Matt Turner might lose starting goalkeeping job after critical mistake… again

Nottingham Forest fell to Tottenham 2-0 on Friday and many fans are pointing the blame at United States goalkeeper Matt Turner after a massive error.

Turner had produced several important stops in the game to deny Spurs, however the only thing people will remember Friday’s game for was the gaffe in the 65th minute.

Luton Town vs. Bournemouth abandoned after captain Tom Lockyer collapses on field

UPDATE:

Luton captain Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the pitch.

The score was 1-1 when the 29-year-old Wales international fell to the ground with no other player near him. Players and Luton manager Rob Edwards reacted immediately to get medical attention.

"Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher," Luton said in a statement.

Raúl Jiménez might be the first player in history sent off for attacking opponent with his bum

Fulham and Mexico striker Raúl Jiménez revolutionized the term “headbutt” on Saturday when he received a red card for attacking Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff with his bum.

The Jiménez red card vs Newcastle is unlike any sending off we’ve ever seen. The Mexican striker carelessly flew in the air to block Longstaff’s pass and ended up clattering into him.

If this was WWE then Jiménez would’ve received a standing ovation, instead he got an early trip to the showers and left Fulham down a man in the 22nd minute.

CBS crew digs up hilarious old footage of Micah Richard’s attempt at the worst flop in history
