While many turn their focus to UEFA Champions League, top clubs in the US and Central America are facing off in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League. The Seattle Sounders faced Mexican side, Club América and played to a 2 - 2 draw. Clint Dempsey got the scoring started with a curling freekick in the 43rd minute. The 1 - 0 lead wouldn't last long as Club América came back with a goal of their own before the half in the 45th minute. Dempsey would score again to retake the lead, but it evaporated on a 70th minute goal from Oribe Peralta.
Crazy stuff happens in the Copa MX. This year, Cruz Azul's Christiano "Chaco" Gimenez provided the fun when he got the ball in his own half, decided "screw it, I'm launching from here," launched from there and scored.

Raul Gudino, a 19-year-old Mexican goalkeeper, was handed his first start in the Portuguese Premeira Liga Friday in Medeira's 1-1 draw with Estoril.
Gudino comported himself well, from what we can tell from the numbers. There's always room for improvement, but this is a great start for a young player at a position where players don't traditionally peak until their late 20s/early 30s.
Carlos Vela's Real Sociedad season started slowly, but it seems to have picked up.
The 26-year-old Mexico international is Sociedad's third-leading scorer in La Liga with four goals. He also has three assist in the league.
Those don't look like super-impressive numbers, but the upshot is most of those stats have come in 2016. Vela scored and assisted in Sociedad's away win at Espanyol Feb. 8 and scored in a 5-1 loss to Sporting Jan. 22.
Five months into his reign, Juan Carlos Osorio is still undefeated with El Tri. He’s only had a handful of matches to prove himself, but the results he’s been getting speak volumes of the potential in the team. In four matches under Osorio, El Tri have not been scored on and the 1-0 win over Panama in his first match is the only match that saw El Tri score only once.
