Freddy Adu held the record as the youngest MLS player ever for 18 years before Axel Kei broke his mark in January. Kei held the record for about six weeks.
MLS champion NYCFC announced the signing of Maximo Carrizo to a Homegrown contract on Monday, which just happened to be Carrizo’s 14th birthday. The deal makes him two weeks younger than Real Salt Lake’s Kei to become the youngest MLS player ever.
