Cruz Azul Player Scores Goal From Damn Near Outside The Stadium

Crazy stuff happens in the Copa MX. This year, Cruz Azul's Christiano "Chaco" Gimenez provided the fun when he got the ball in his own half, decided "screw it, I'm launching from here," launched from there and scored.

We suggest you turn the sound on for this one.

Diego Forlan Just Reminded Us That He's Really, Really Good

Diego Forlan scored a perfect hat trick this weekend for Penarol, reminding everyone of how brilliant of player he was (and still is apparently). He scored a goal with his right foot, his left foot, one brilliant one with his head and added two assists in a 5-1 demolition of Defensor Sporting in the Uruguayan Primera Division. Check it out (Especially the last one. Header of the year for sure).

Champions League Round of 16 Goals - February 23, 2016

FC Barcelona traveled to England and beat Arsenal 2 - 0. Messi scored both goals, the first in the 71st minute and the second on a penalty in the 83rd. While in Turino, Italy, Bayern took a two goal lead from Thomas Mueller and Arjen Robben. Mueller scored the first goal in the 43rd minute and Robben added the 2nd in the 55th. Juventus battled back for the 2 - 2 tie with goals in the 63rd and 76th minute. The first was scored by Paulo Dybala and the tying goal came from Stefano Sturaro.

This Is The Best Possible Way To Score A 90th Minute Equalizer

Lisandro Lopez should be very proud of what he did near the end of Racing's 1-1 tie against Independiente in the Argentinean first division. You see, it didn't look like it would be a tie. Independiente were up 1-0 until Lopez ripped a 90th minute bicycle kick equalizer into the back of the net.

There are lots of ways to score a 90th minute equalizer. All of them are nice. Every 90th minute equalizer is its own special snowflake of a goal. It means more than a regular goal, because of the timing and effect on the match.

This Free Kick Is The Pinnacle Of Terrible Free Kicks. Welcome To The Pooskas Party

I love terrible free kicks. I cannot help it. In theory, a free kick taken reasonably near the box should be a shot on target every time. In practice, hoo boy it gets interesting.

For example, take a gander at this Germany "effort" against Algeria in the 2014 World Cup. If Germany hadn't gone on to win the tournament, every player involved in this kick would have probably been keelhauled when they got back to Germany.

Miguel Layun Strikes Again, Hector Herrera Pulls Off Incredible Assist

Miguel Layun is at it again. The Mexico international notched a goal and an assist as Porto overcome a 2-0 deficit against Moreirense to win 3-2 on Sunday. His compatriot Hector Herrera also helped out, pulling off what has to go down as one of the most acrobatic assists we've ever seen

South Africa Has More Swag Than Any Other Footballing Nation

The late 19th century to the end of the apartheid era in South Africa saw the rise of townships, urban living areas, built on the periphery of towns and cities. Reserved for non-whites, these sprawling and often underdeveloped slums were contrived as separate living spaces for working class and unemployed black, colored and Indian inhabitants.

Townships were also referred to as locations or lokasie in Afrikaans. Lokasie gave way to the colloquial term kasi, a word which now encompasses the flavor and distinct style of the townships.

These Soccer Buzzer Beaters Will Get Your Heart Racing

Man, I don’t know about you fellow 18.com readers, but my blood is still flowing after Danny Welbeck’s triumphant return to the pitch resulted in one of the most memorable goals (and moments) so far in this year’s Premier League campaign where the writers seem to be putting in overtime writing the narrative. Here it is again in all of it’s glory.

Messi Scored His 300th La Liga Goal And Barcelona's 10,000th Goal In The Same Game

Lionel Messi set two more records today. Of course he did. Messi sets records every day, it seems. Today may have even been a down day, records-wise.

First, Messi continued to be the highest scorer in La Liga history, scoring his 300th goal.

Carlos Vela's Two Assists This Weekend Could Be A Good Sign

Carlos Vela's Real Sociedad season started slowly, but it seems to have picked up.

The 26-year-old Mexico international is Sociedad's third-leading scorer in La Liga with four goals. He also has three assist in the league.

Those don't look like super-impressive numbers, but the upshot is most of those stats have come in 2016. Vela scored and assisted in Sociedad's away win at Espanyol Feb. 8 and scored in a 5-1 loss to Sporting Jan. 22.
