Carli Lloyd Had A Luis Suarez Moment Last Night

There was something vaguely familiar about yesterday’s Orlando Pride vs. Sky Blue match up: a handball clearance off the line in crunch time, a red card, a penalty, a penalty save. All right, it’s not exactly a World Cup knockout game and Carli Lloyd didn’t know much about the goal-saving move (it seems), but one can’t help but think of a certain Uruguayan striker by the name of Luis Suarez after seeing this.

Guardiola Calls Bernardo Silva’s Community Shield Performance ‘A Masterpiece’

The FA Community Shield doesn’t count for much. Last season, Arsenal won it thanks to contributions from Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud. Not one of those players was even at the club come February. We can, however, surmise from the 2018 edition that Manchester City is really good.

I think they earned the right to that plaudit last season.

Mexican Phenom Diego Lainez Opens His Club America Account With A Stunning Brace

No club divides opinion in Mexico quite like Club America, but yesterday, the entire country had to be excited about the performance of 18-year-old phenom Diego Lainez

Since making his club debut as a 16-year-old, Lainez has been touted as one of Mexico’s top prospects. However, the native of Villahermosa had yet to make much of an impact in his brief Liga MX career with America manager Miguel Herrera deploying the winger cautiously.

Bastian Schweinsteiger Hammers One From Over 30 Yards Out

Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the seventh goal of his MLS career last night (his fourth of the 2018 season), and it was undoubtedly the best strike of his Chicago Fire tenure. Chicago was trailing 1-0 in the 48th minute after Damir Kreilach had given Real Salt Lake the advantage, but Schweinsteiger quieted the 19,817 inside Rio Tinto Stadium with this sensational long-range bomb.

Saudi Arabia’s ‘Msdossary’ Wins $250K As FIFA eWorld Cup Winner

Mosaad Aldossary, the Saud Arabian better known as “Msdossary,” is the world’s best FIFA 18 player. Better yet, after a 4-0 aggregate victory in the grand final, Msdossary is taking home a quarter of a million dollars in FIFA eWorld Cup prize money.

Msdossary defeated Stefano Pinna (who goes by the unoriginal avatar of “StefanoPinna”) 2-0 in each leg of the final. Msdossary was the Xbox One champion while StefanoPinna won the PlayStation 4 division.

USWNT Dominates Brazil To Win Tournament Of Nations

Down a goal in the first half, the U.S. women’s national team came back and then some on its way to winning the Tournament of Nations on Thursday night in Chicago. The team went undefeated and put away nine goals in the three-game series, lifting its first ToN trophy and continuing to build its case as 2019 World Cup favorite with a 4-1 win for the USWNT vs Brazil.

Meet Callum Hudson-Odoi, The 17-Year-Old Who Might Be Just What Chelsea Needs

Last September, we showed you a video Callum Hudson-Odoi doing some neat tricks and skills with a ball. Then 16, we said he was primed to be the next Chelsea star.

Now 17, the London native is again showing why he can be the next Chelsea star — only this time it’s not on a rainy practice pitch with no defenders around him, it’s against some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Would-Be President Zlatan Ibrahimovic Scores His First MLS Hat-Trick

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is perhaps best known for two things: his scoring ability and his big mouth. Unsurprisingly, the two go hand in hand. Though he has a habit of making audacious, eye-roll-inducing claims about his talent, he's quick to back up his words with goals of both great beauty and frequency.

USWNT Pushes Unbeaten Streak To 18 Games Thanks To 90th-Minute Equalizer

The USWNT hadn’t suffered a defeat since last July’s Tournament of Nations match against Australia, so with the clock striking 90 in tonight's rematch and the Matildas holding a 1-0 lead thanks to Chloe Logarzo’s 22nd minute strike, it looked like time was indeed a flat circle. But Lindsey Horan’s header at the death pushed the USWNT’s unbeaten streak to 18 games and kept the host nation in the running for the 2018 Tournament of Nations trophy.

Portugal Captures European U19 Title With Wild 4-3 Win Over Italy

With a squad comprised largely of players that led Portugal to glory at the 2016 European U-17 Championship, Portugal has now ridden what’s quickly becoming a golden generation to more international glory, this time at the 2018 European U-19 Championship in Finland. Portugal defeated Italy 4-3 in a madcap final that saw three goals scored in quick succession during the first period of extra time.

Joao Filipe opened the scoring just before halftime for Portugal. The Benfica youngster fired in a low drive after a brilliant piece of control at the top of the box.
