The biggest matchup in Germany will see its latest edition play out on Tuesday as Bayern Munich will take on Borussia Dortmund with the German Supercup on the line.

7-Goal Thriller In Germany’s Second Division Is Early Candidate For Match Of The Season

Daniel Thioune's Hamburg completed a successful comeback late on to secure a 4-3 victory over Paderborn in the 2. Bundesliga on Monday.

After narrowly missing out on promotion back to the top flight last season following a late collapse, Hamburg has won its first two games of the new campaign. It had gone up 2-0 after 24 minutes thanks to goals from Manuel Wintzheimer and Simone Terrode, but Hamburg squandered the lead and found itself down 3-2 all before halftime.

Schalke Fires David Wagner Two Games Into Season

Schalke 04 have sacked head coach David Wagner following their poor start to the season, the German Bundesliga club said in a statement on Sunday.

Schalke were thrashed 8-0 by champions Bayern Munich in their first game last weekend and suffered a 3-1 defeat by Werder Bremen on Saturday.

Augsburg Shuts Down Reyna, Haaland, Sancho In Surprising Upset

BERLIN — Bundesliga title hopefuls Borussia Dortmund suffered a blow in a 2-0 defeat at Augsburg on Saturday, surrendering without a fight as Daniel Caligiuri set up the first goal and scored the second in his 300th league game.

Despite Dortmund having close to 80% possession for much of the first half, it was Augsburg who scored when Felix Uduokhai connected with a Caligiuri free kick in the 40th minute to nod in from three metres with their first chance of the match.

Munich Worried Of Super Cup Mass Infection As Bayern Fans Travel To Budapest

Bavarian Premier Markus Soeder on Monday urged Bayern Munich fans not to travel to the UEFA Super Cup final against Sevilla in Budapest this week or risk turning the event into a hotbed for COVID-19 to spread.

The German champions, who won the Champions League, face Europa League winners Sevilla in the Hungarian capital on Thursday.

"My stomach hurts thinking about the Super Cup. Budapest is a risk area. We have to be very careful that we don't risk turning it into a football-Ischgl," he said.

RB Leipzig Opens Bundesliga With Win And Tyler Adams Looking Comfortable In Midfield Role

RB Leipzig eased past Mainz 3-1 in their Bundesliga opener on Sunday to enjoy a successful start to league life without striker Timo Werner.

Werner joined Chelsea in the close season and missed their run to their Champions League semifinals in August but Leipzig had little trouble finding the back of the net against Mainz, striking twice in four minutes.

Emil Forsberg converted a 17th-minute penalty for a foul on Dani Olmo and Yussuf Poulsen rose high to drill in a header for the second goal.

Lewandowski’s Delicious Rabona Assist Effectively Ends Bundesliga Season On Day 1

Bayern Munich is the best team in the world. The German giants proved that by winning the Champions League in August on the back of eight straight Bundesliga titles. But based on the way Bayern opened its 2020-21 campaign, including a stunning Robert Lewandowski rabona assist, Die Roten might be even better this season.

German Team Uses Social Distancing On The Pitch, Loses 37-0

German amateur side SG Ripdorf II sacrificed a tight defense for social distancing as they fielded only seven players as a coronavirus precaution in a 37-0 loss to local rivals SV Holdenstedt II.

The preparations for Sunday's match in Lower Saxony's 3. Kreisklasse — the 11th tier of German football — were complicated when it emerged that Holdenstedt players had been in contact with an opponent infected with COVID-19 in a previous match.

Pissed Hamburg Player Jumps Into Stands To Fight Opposing Fan After Losing 4-1

Hamburg defender Toni Leistner went full Eric Dier and then some with a Dynamo Dresden fan after his team was knocked out in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on Monday. Dresden was relegated from the 2. Bundesliga last season but got revenge with a shocking 4-1 upset of Hamburg.

It’s not entirely clear what happened, but the Dresden fan must have said/done something to cause Leistner to jump into the stands and let him have it.

17-Year-Old American Gio Reyna Scores His Second Goal For Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund’s 2020-21 campaign began in earnest today with a DFB-Pokal first round match against third division side MSV Duisburg. Dortmund fielded a strong starting 11, but there was also room for a pair of teenagers in Giovanni Reyna and Jude Bellingham (both 17).

Dortmund got things started in the 14th-minute with Jadon Sancho converting from the penalty spot, and then Bellingham marked his competitive Dortmund debut with a goal following an excellent backheel from Thorgan Hazard.
