Piqué shot down — Shakira's got a new Top Gun (it's Tom Cruise)

The tragic romance of our time took another compelling twist this past weekend as Shakira potentially found her rebound from last year's dramatic split with Gerard Piqué. Throughout Sunday's Miami Grand Prix, Shakira was spotted hanging out with Tom Cruise. Gossip rags are now saying the Last Samurai is going to pursue her like a scene out of Mission: Impossible; he's already sent flowers.

Wrexham party by the pool, rave with Steve Aoki in Las Vegas

After winning the National League, securing promotion to EFL League Two and celebrating with an open-top bus parade through the city in front of thousands, the players of Wrexham continued their spring-a-palooza this past weekend with a trip to Las Vegas funded by owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The Soccer Tournament group draw: Kristine Lilly's about to two-foot Ryan Reynolds

The 32-team field is set, the list of participating stars is growing and on Thursday we finally learned the groups for this June's $1 million winner-take-all "The Soccer Tournament" (TST) in Cary, NC.

The World Cup-styled event takes place over four days (June 1-4) at WakeMed Soccer Park with a variant of the game (7-on-7, smaller field, smaller goals, two 20-minute halves with an "Elam Ending," and more) that's sure to bring excitement and plenty of goals.

The Soccer Tournament: Why I love this 7-on-7 gimmick and you should too

The hype is growing around The Soccer Tournament (TST) — brainchild of the folks behind the increasingly popular The Basketball Tournament (TBT) — but I don't think anyone's talking about it nearly enough.

On June 1, 32 teams will descend on WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC, for a four-day tournament with the winners taking home $1 million. It's certainly not your traditional soccer tournament with different rules, procedures and a collection of squads comprised of legends, professionals, up-and-coming talents, amateurs, viral street sensations and everyone in-between.

Now HBO is getting in on the action with their latest soccer docuseries “Angel City” which will follow the Los Angeles-based club’s inaugural season in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Ted Lasso S3E8 review: 3 burning questions with only 4 episodes to go

The latest episode of Ted Lasso brought us ever closer to the series finale but no closer to resolving the myriad of complications that are serving to bring our beloved characters down.

Something's got to give with the finish line is sight, and here's what we're pondering.

Ted Lasso S3E8 review: 3 burning questions

*Ted Lasso S3E8 spoilers below*

#1. Can Richmond still win the Premier League?

Gareth Bale hints at a possible return with newly promoted Wrexham

Season 2 of Welcome to Wrexham is going to be absolutely insane with coverage of the club's wild FA Cup run and historic National League title, but just imagine a third season, covering Wrexham's 2023-24 League Two campaign, with a 34-year-old Gareth Bale starring after coming out of retirement.

That idea seemed entirely preposterous as recently as Monday — when you have a nickname like "The Golfer" you're likely enjoying your time off — but then Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney shared a video of Bale congratulating him on the promotion.

Watch the moment Wrexham earn promotion to EFL League 2 after a comeback win

Wrexham’s task on Saturday was as straight-forward as it gets. If the club defeated Boreham Wood at home at the Racecourse Ground, they would become National League champions and earn promotion to the EFL League 2.

The stage was set for a big Wrexham day. Then the Red Dragons conceded 42 seconds into the game.

Can Richmond still win the Premier League? The answer might shock Ted Lasso

(S3E5 spoilers below)

As writers on the series, Jason Sudeikis (Ted), Brett Goldstein (Roy) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) have always stressed that Ted Lasso isn't a show about soccer, it's a show about these characters who just so happen to be involved in the running of a professional soccer club.

Wrexham on the verge of promotion after 5-goal thriller, PK save at 90+7'

It was billed as the biggest game in National League history, and Monday's top-of-the-table clash between Wrexham and Notts County — with both clubs entering on 100 points, having scored 106 goals each and directly battling for the only automatic birth into the EFL — didn't disappoint.

With Wrexham's Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney both in attendance, a five-goal thriller played out at the Racecourse Ground that left the Red Dragons in complete control of their promotion destiny.
