It’s about that time again! U.S. Soccer has announced this year’s nominees for the 2016 U.S. Soccer Awards. The Player of the Year award is the highest honor a player can receive in the United States. The award for Male Player of the Year dates back to 1984 and 1985 for the Female Player of the Year. 2016 Season: Scored 14 goals in 25 games and had eight assists. Dunn scored five goals against Puerto Rico on February 15, 2016 during Olympic qualifying and broke the U.S. record for most goals in a single game.

About Tobin: Her passing and dribbling skills have earned her the legacy of one of the most skillful USWNT players of all time. She is known as "Queen of the Nutmeg".
2016 Season: Tobin competed in her fifth major tournament for the USA (2008 Olympics, 2011 WWC, 2012 Olympics, 2015 WWC, 2016 Olympics). She scored six goals in 22 games and had eight assists.
Position: Midfield
Club: Houston Dash
Hometown: Delran Township, NJ
About Carli: She won 2015's FIFA Female Player of the Year and was the captain for the U.S. women's national team in 2016.
2016 Season: Lloyd scored 17 goals and had 11 assists (a team-leading mark) in 21 games. She was one goal short of meeting her 2015 goal record of 18.

Hometown: San Dimas, CA
About Alex: Battled injuries in 2014-2015 but returned to the field in 2016.
2016 Season: Morgan tied Lloyd with 17 goals in 21 games. Morgan had a total of three assists. Morgan scored the goal against Sweden that tied the game and brought the USWNT into ET at the 2016 Olympics.

Hometown: St. Louis, MO
About Becky: Sauerbrunn started all 23 games and was captain for the USWNT team in 2016.
2016 Season: Was one of two players who played every minute for the USA at the 2016 Olympics. She became the 35th woman to play 100 times for her country. She had three assists this season.
