The long-awaited Nike Air Zoom Ultra soccer cleats finally have a scheduled release date of March 21, but you'll have to act quickly as only 1,000 pairs of the limited-edition boot have been produced.
The final Mercurial Air Zoom Ultra SE product resembles the current-gen Mercurial boots, but the aesthetic has shifted to a white-and-black upper with some beautiful iridescent detailing and the Air Zoom logo on the heel.
But the main selling point is the full-length Zoom airbag — visible and touchable in one spot on the underside of the cleat — which is an innovation that was previously reserved for the basketball court and Kevin Durant's KD12 shoes. According to the press release, the innovation is designed for players who "constantly take off from their forefoot at full speed" as the Zoom airbag "allows for a snappy, propulsive energy return" while providing "cushioning in the heel of the boot."
The upper has also been re-engineered to be more comfortable, breathable and lightweight, and the new Synergia Plate is 40 percent lighter than the carbon fiber plate it's replacing.
