United States women’s national team head coach Emma Hayes oversaw her first two games in charge and now must make the 18-player Olympic roster. One topic being hotly debated is who to bring as the forwards?

Perhaps a more appropriate question is how many forwards to bring? The USWNT has an Olympic-sized swimming pool kind of depth in attack. With only 18 players set to be on the plane to Paris, the decision is cutthroat.

BANGKOK — Brazil was declared host of the 2027 Women's World Cup after winning a vote at the annual FIFA Congress on Friday, beating the joint bid of Belgium, Netherlands and Germany to become the first South American country picked to stage the tournament.

Brazil won with 119 votes versus 78 for the joint European entry, boosted by a technical evaluation from world governing body FIFA that gave a high score for its commercial plan and stadiums purpose-built for the 2014 Men's World Cup.

The first edition of the Women's Club World Cup has been proposed to start during January-February 2026 and the 16-team tournament will be held every four years, world soccer governing body FIFA said on Wednesday.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino in May 2021 revealed their plans to introduce the Women's Club World Cup as part of a plan to "revolutionize" the female game.

FIFA, whose council met in advance of the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, did not provide any further details at this stage.
