DOHA - Qatar's World Cup stadiums are set to be alcohol-free, with beer sales outside arenas only allowed before and after some matches, a source with knowledge of plans for the soccer tournament said.

This year's World Cup is the first to be held in a Muslim country with strict controls on alcohol, presenting unique challenges for organizers of an event often associated with beer drinking fans and sponsored by global brewing brands.

The Evolution Of Official FIFA World Cup Posters Through The Years

Dating back to the inaugural FIFA World Cup held in Uruguay in 1930, each rendition of the tournament has been accompanied by an official poster from FIFA. Artists who’ve worked on these gorgeous designs include Guillermo Laborde (1930), Joan Miro (1982) and Annie Leibovitz (1986), to name just a few. Today, FIFA unveiled the official poster for the 2022 event in Qatar.

It's created by Qatari artist Bouthayna Al Muftah and depicts traditional headwear being thrown in the air — a symbol of celebration and fandom across Qatar and the Arab world.

Trailing 3-1 to Liverpool as the team prepares for mission impossible inside Anfield, Benfica supporters flooded Merseyside on Wednesday to show their unwavering support for the Eagles.

It's a daunting trip for most — the home of The Beatles and the six-time European champions — but not for one Benfica fan who refuses to acknowledge the band's 600 million record sales while claiming "only God knows" how bad of a beating they're about to inflict on Jürgen Klopp's side.

One Australia Fan Makes 8,250-Mile Trip To Saudi Arabia And Gets Booed By 50,000

Australia's slog of a World Cup qualifying campaign came to a halt on March 24 after a 2-0 defeat to Japan in the driving Sydney rain meant that after the grind of 18 games over two years, the Socceroos would still need to beat the United Arab Emirates and then Peru in the June playoffs to qualify for Qatar.

Ronaldinho Inducted Into World Soccer Hall Of Fame! (TIL There's A World Soccer Hall Of Fame)

I don't know what Ronaldinho's appearance fee is, but it was met by the World Soccer Hall of Fame in Pachuca, Mexico, on Tuesday night as the legendary Brazilian showed up and provided a short induction speech. No, I had no idea there was a World Soccer Hall of Fame in Pachuca either.

The fellow inductees of Ronaldinho's class were Italian defender Fabio Cannavaro, Spanish striker Raúl, Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos and Swedish coach Pia Sundhage. They weren't at the ceremony, but Ronaldinho was genuinely touched by the honor and fought back tears during his speech.
