Scorching temperatures are one of the many reasons Qatar is the most controversial World Cup host of all time. During June and July, the months in which the World Cup is traditionally held, temperatures in the Arab nation peak around 120 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature at which, unsurprisingly, it is simply unsafe to play a 90+ minute soccer match.

World Cup Stadiums Will Be Alcohol Free In Qatar

DOHA - Qatar's World Cup stadiums are set to be alcohol-free, with beer sales outside arenas only allowed before and after some matches, a source with knowledge of plans for the soccer tournament said.

This year's World Cup is the first to be held in a Muslim country with strict controls on alcohol, presenting unique challenges for organizers of an event often associated with beer drinking fans and sponsored by global brewing brands.

Los Angeles, Toronto, Mexico City Named World Cup 2026 Host Cities

NEW YORK — Los Angeles, Toronto and Mexico City have been named among the host cities for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, marking the first time the tournament will be shared by three different countries.

World soccer governing body FIFA announced the 16 cities — 11 in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada — that were successful from the 22 bids put forward in a special event at the Rockefeller Center in New York on Thursday. However, there was no indication where the opening game or the final would be played.

Dating back to the inaugural FIFA World Cup held in Uruguay in 1930, each rendition of the tournament has been accompanied by an official poster from FIFA. Today, FIFA unveiled the official poster for the 2022 event in Qatar.
