FIFA 23 set to add NWSL just in time for new season

It didn't make much sense when EA Sports announced that women's club soccer was coming to FIFA 23 before launching with only the Women's Super League (England) and Division 1 Féminine (France) while omitting the National Women's Soccer League, but that's reportedly about to be remedied with a free March update ahead of the league's new season.

NWSL Fans Left Baffled As Ref Rewards A Goal With A Corner Kick

While play in the National Women’s Soccer League is some of the best in the world (I’d argue it’s the best league top to bottom), we have to be honest and admit one thing is clearly holding the NWSL back: officiating. The NWSL has far too many mistakes by its referees, made all the worse by the fact there is no VAR (for now).

Gotham FC was the victim of a particularly horrible piece of officiating against Angel City on Sunday, as if the New York/New Jersey club needed any more bad luck this season.

Megan Rapinoe Involved In Every Goal As OL Reign Put 4 Past Gotham FC

OL Reign strengthened its hold on a NWSL playoff place and entrenched Gotham FC near the bottom of the table with a commanding 4-1 win at Lumen Field on Sunday behind some inspirational play from Megan Rapinoe. The 37-year-old was heavily involved in all four Reign goals and finished two herself.

In the 15th minute, Rapinoe's quick throw-in acted as the assist for Rose Lavelle's third of the season.

Gotham’s McCall Zerboni Admonished For Using Racist Metaphor In Postgame Interview

Last week, Gotham FC captain McCall Zerboni was nominated for the NWSLPA’s Ally Award, which recognizes leadership and character in unsung players. A week later, she was being called out on social media for using racist language. Then Angel City’s Madison Hammond gave a master class in how to respond to those who perpetuate harmful stereotypes.

16-Year-Old Olivia Moultrie Might Win NWSL Goal Of The Week Honors With Latest Effort

After becoming the youngest goal scorer in NWSL history last month, 16-year-old Portland Thorns prodigy Olivia Moultrie got her second of the season Saturday night and it'll certainly be up for Goal of the Week honors.

The Thorns welcomed Gotham FC to Providence Park with Portland near the top of the table and NJ/NY beneath the playoff line, and it only took the home side five minutes to open the scoring through Taylor Porter after Gotham failed to clear a corner kick.

U.S. Soccer World’s Reaction To Shocking Supreme Court Ruling Overturning Roe v Wade

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Friday a historic reversal to overturn Roe v Wade. After nearly 50 years of abortion being a constitutional right, states can now choose to outlaw abortion.

This historic ruling has obviously created a whirlwind of emotions in the country. Here was the response from teams and figures in the U.S. Soccer sphere.

2022 NWSL Predictions — After Months Of Turmoil, The Attention Finally Turns To The Pitch

The 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup isn’t over yet, but the 2022 NWSL regular season is upon us. While four teams still compete for the first trophy of the season, expansion club Angel City FC hosts the N.C. Courage at 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday night (live on CBSSN) to open what is sure to be an enthralling campaign. That means it’s time for some NWSL predictions.

Gotham FC Drops A Limited Edition Clothing Range For The Ages

After suffering an early elimination from the NWSL Challenge Cup at the hands of Trinity "she's feeling confident hunny" Rodman, NJ/NY Gotham FC rebounded off the pitch Tuesday by releasing the greatest clothing range the league has ever seen.

List Of USWNT Players Becoming Mothers Continues To Grow — Allie Long Is Expecting Twins

The United States women’s national team is quickly turning into team Mom as another player has announced her pregnancy. It was revealed on Friday that two-time NWSL and 2019 World Cup champion Allie Long is having twins.

When Ashlyn Harris Tried To Defend Her Wife On Twitter, Trinity Rodman Clapped Back To Defend Her Team

Social media is often a horrible place, I think we can all agree. But sometimes it gives us wonderful moments of schadenfreude, moments when we can step back from an argument and be oh so happy we’re not involved. There was one such popcorn-grabbing moment this weekend when Ashlyn Harris and Trinity Rodman got into a Twitter feud after their respective clubs played on Friday.
