Chelsea Makes As Big A Splash As It Can By Permanently Signing Mateo Kovačić

Chelsea has made its first, and probably only, move while serving a two-window transfer ban (this summer and next January) by permanently signing the previously on-loan Mateo Kovačić from Real Madrid for a fee that could approach nearly $57 million.

The 25-year-old just completed his first season with the Blues, and with plenty of unforeseen circumstances ahead, Kovačić had to be brought back.

Antonio Blanco ripped a shot from 45 yards in a 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Saturday, advancing Real Madrid 3-1 on aggregate into the Copa del Rey Juvenil semifinals.

Blanco’s equalizing goal came with the match in the balance. Barcelona attempted to cross midfield only for the Madrid player to steal the ball, take one touch and blast a long-range effort over the Barça keeper.

Real Madrid Responds To Awful Season With Killer New Kit

Real Madrid had a real stinker of a 2018-19 season. It was the club’s worst in about 20 years, finishing 19 points back of Barcelona in LaLiga and failing to secure a trophy of any kind aside from the Club World Cup in December. 

Los Blancos are already look ahead to next season, having secured the services of Eden Hazard following the rehire of Zinedine Zidane earlier this year.
