After being eliminated at the quarterfinal stage of the Champions League for a third straight year, Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola, perhaps unexpectedly, find themselves at a crossroads.

Despite the criticism that Guardiola has faced for his cautious tactics in the 3-1 loss to Lyon on Saturday and the questions about whether he is over-complicating the task in Europe, there is no suggestion that the City hierarchy has lost confidence in the Spaniard.

Arsenal's head of football Raul Sanllehi is leaving the club with managing director Vinai Venkatesham set to take over, the Premier League side announced on Saturday. Reports had suggested Sanllehi was being investigated in regard to Arsenal overpaying for Nicolas Pépé, a transfer fee that reached £72 million ($55M). 

The English Premier League announced its Young Player of the Season 2020 award winner on Friday and it was not, sadly, American dynamo Christian Pulisic. As much as we Americans wanted the Pennsylvania native to win the honor, the award went to — surprise — an Englishman.

LONDON — Arsenal have signed Brazil winger Willian on a three-year deal, the Premier League club said on Friday.

The 32-year-old joins Arsenal on a free transfer after failing to agree on a new long-term contract with Chelsea.

The FA Community Shield is an annual match in England at Wembley Stadium between the previous season's Premier League champion and the holder of the FA Cup. All proceeds from the game are donated to community charities and initiatives around the country.  

Liverpool will receive a record 175 million pounds ($228.45 million) payout for winning the Premier League after all 20 clubs in England's top-flight agreed to postpone any reductions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Times.

The newspaper reported on Wednesday that teams will receive their entire payout for last season and rebates to broadcasters, which could amount to 330 million pounds ($430.49 million), would be spread out over future campaigns.

Most of us are excited to see a new season of the Premier League — one that’s closer to normal. As with any season, there have been some triumphs and some heartbreaks. The promotion of Fulham, Leeds and West Brom is sure to add a new flare to the league. And saying goodbye to the relegated Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich City left tears in some fans' eyes. Football lovers everywhere are asking themselves when will the next Premier League season start.

Despite having one of the best left-backs in the world in Andy Robertson, Liverpool was not afraid to add more fullback talent through the transfer market. After completing his medical, Greek left-back Konstantinos "Kostas" Tsimikas was announced as Liverpool's newest signing Monday afternoon.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho left with his team for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland on Monday with the German club saying the talented player would stay after a contract extension to 2023.

Sancho has been the target of several top clubs with ongoing speculation of a possible transfer to the English Premier League.

"We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions," Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc told reporters in Switzerland.
