World Cup Winner A-Rod Retires From NWSL To Join College Coaching Ranks

One of U.S. soccer’s greatest strikers is hanging up her boots to join the coaching ranks. Amy Rodriguez, who won at every level, retired from the NWSL on Friday to join her alma mater, USC, as an assistant coach.

A-Rod, as the 34-year-old is affectionately known, won an NCAA title with USC, two Olympic gold medals and the 2015 Women’s World Cup. She led FC Kansas City to back-to-back NWSL titles, scoring 64 goals in 160 matches in her professional career.

Not Yet Retired — Rapinoe Re-Signs With Reign

Megan Rapinoe isn’t hanging up the boots just yet. Following the lead of her fiancée, the USWNT icon is sticking around for at least one more season. Rapinoe re-signed a one-year deal to stay with the OL Reign in the NWSL, the club announced on Wednesday.

Ashley Hatch Scores A Stunner While Mic'd Up During USWNT Training

The USWNT wraps up its annual January Camp in Austin, Texas, on Friday after 10 days of work that's served to allow Vlatko Andonovski a closer look at some fresh faces, including 13 players (half the roster) with 10 caps or fewer.

After Rejecting Invite In November, Trinity Rodman Accepts First USWNT Call-Up

Trinity Rodman, the dynamic 19-year-old forward who was named 2021 NWSL Rookie of the Year, will finally get her first senior U.S. women’s national team experience this month. Two months after she rejected a previous invite, Rodman accepted Vlatko Andonovski’s call-up for the USWNT’s January camp.

Post-Riley N.C. Courage Exodus Continues With Blockbuster Lynn Williams Trade

The North Carolina Courage are in full-on rebuild mode in the post-Paul Riley era. Lynn Williams is the latest star leaving the storied NWSL club after seven seasons with the Courage/Western New York Flash; the team announced a blockbuster trade to send the USWNT forward to Kansas City on Monday morning.

With Baby On The Way, Who Is Crystal Dunn’s Husband?

Crystal Dunn is arguably the most versatile footballer on the planet. Capable of being one of the NWSL’s best forwards and then becoming one of the world’s best fullbacks with the USWNT, there isn’t much she can’t do. Her next position? Mom. So just who is this Crystal Dunn husband who will help the star footballer raise a baby along with a few cats and chickens?

NWSL’s Newest General Manager Used To Work In WWE

For reasons good and (mostly) bad, the National Women’s Soccer League has had a lot of turnover in management positions over the last 15 months, from ownership to coaches. But there’s reason to be excited about the newest addition to the NWSL, made Thursday by the KC Current heading into their second season as a club.

Sydney Leroux Has Perfectly Reasonable Response To Son Wearing Tottenham Kit

It’s not easy being a single mother. It’s even harder when you’re a professional athlete. But Sydney Leroux sure makes it look easy, or at least fun.

Preseason NWSL camps are less than a month away. With that in mind, Sydney Leroux was in the backyard getting in some training this week with her 5-year-old son, Cassius, who was sporting a full Tottenham kit. Leroux, a 31-year-old Orlando Pride forward and prime Mom of the Year candidate, did what any self-respecting parent would do upon seeing their offspring wearing Spurs colors: kick a ball straight at the kid’s head.

USWNT 2021 Year In Review — It Wasn’t That Bad, Was It?

After a 2020 that was, in many ways, a lost year for international soccer, the U.S. women’s national team went into 2021 with high hopes. The year ended with feelings of missed opportunities and the need for a rethink moving forward less than 20 months away from the next Women’s World Cup.

N.C. Courage Attempt Apology For Signing Homophobic Player; Fans Aren’t Buying It

If you would like to learn how to alienate a club’s fanbase, perhaps irrevocably, you would struggle to find a better case study than the NWSL’s N.C. Courage this week. On Sunday, the club announced the signing of a player, Jaelene Daniels, antithetical to the vast majority of the team’s and league’s fans. After two full days of silence, the club put out a shockingly meek “apology” late Wednesday night, only further upsetting the once devoted fanbase.
