Olivia Moultrie Sets Record For Youngest Goal Scorer In NWSL History

Last summer, Olivia Moultrie set the record as the youngest player in NWSL history, making her Portland Thorns debut at the tender age of 15. Before she could even legally drive, Moultrie was starting — and making an impact — in the world’s toughest league. On Sunday night, Moultrie became the NWSL youngest goal scorer in a 4-0 romp over the Houston Dash.

Alex Morgan's Ninth Of The Season Canceled Out By OL Reign's 22-Pass Team Goal

A highly anticipated meeting between league-leading San Diego Wave and perennial NWSL Championship contender OL Reign delivered on Sunday afternoon at Torero Stadium in SoCal.

The home crowd was on its feet in the eighth-minute as Alex Morgan got on the end of goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan's long ball forward before cooly collecting her ninth goal of the season in just nine appearances.

Christen Press Scores Golazo But Requires Help Leaving Pitch After Knee Injury

The USWNT is already approaching the CONCACAF W Championship without rising star Catarina Macario (knee) and the explosive Lynn Williams (hip), but another big name might be added to the list of injury casualties at forward after Christen Press was forced off in the 66th-minute of Angel City's 3-2 win over Racing Louisville in NWSL action Saturday.

The 33-year-old was at her best during her time on the pitch, including an impressive run and finish in the 36th-minute for her second goal of the season.

Alex Morgan Extends NWSL Goalscoring Lead, But Mallory Pugh Is Climbing The Chart

The San Diego Wave twice came from a goal down thanks to an Alex Morgan brace, including a 90th-minute equalizer, to snatch a 2-2 draw with Kansas City on Saturday to stay atop the early NWSL standings with 13 points from seven games.

The Wave is undefeated at home (2-0), but they've been exceptionally good on the road for an expansion side (2-2-1). They just wouldn't quit on Sunday at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City.

Kristen Hamilton had given the Current the lead in the 11th-minute, but Morgan brought the Wave level from the spot in the 37th.

Kealia Watt Is Having A Baby With J.J. — We’re Winning The World Cup In 24-25 Years

Americans often wonder: What if our best athletes played soccer? Well, that already happens on the women’s side, where we’ve won four World Cup titles thanks in large part to a head start provided by Title IX. On the men’s side? The nation’s best athletes still usually play American football, basketball or baseball.

Hopefully that changes in the coming years, and hopefully it includes Kealia and J.J. Watt’s new baby. The couple announced they’re expecting their first child in October on Thursday.

Rose Lavelle Outshines Alex Morgan With Incredible Diving Header For Game-Winner

Early NWSL leaders San Diego Wave travelled to Lumen Field in Seattle on Sunday to play OL Reign with all eyes on two of this season's most impressive attacking talents. For the expansion Wave, Alex Morgan has fueled the quick success with a league-leading six goals. For the Reign, Rose Lavelle entered with the most shots, 18, across the NWSL.

The Reign defense, anchored by the center half pairing of Alana Cook and Sam Hiatt, did an excellent job marshaling Morgan and the Wave's attack. At the other end, San Diego had no answer for Rose Lavelle's threat off the left-hand side.

N.C. Courage Attendance Is Way Down — Everyone Knows Why Except The Owners

For years, N.C. Courage attendance numbers were some of the best in the NWSL. In 2022, no one wants to go see the Courage play, even when it’s the Challenge Cup final.

The reasons are pretty obvious. Well, they’re obvious to everyone but the owners, it seems.

For the last few years (discounting the pandemic season of 2020), North Carolina has averaged more than 5,000 fans per game, always in the top half of the NWSL attendance rankings. It wasn’t hard to see why: The Courage won three NWSL Shields and two NWSL Championships from 2017-19.

Alex Morgan Targets USWNT Return After Red-Hot Start To NWSL Season

After fielding the oldest squad at both the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Summer Olympics, a changing of the guard was inevitable for the USWNT ahead of building toward the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Carli Lloyd, the team's most capped player and leading scorer, retired last year, but is Alex Morgan still on the USWNT?

Morgan is now the team's leading active goalscorer with 115 in 190 appearances (0.61 per game), and the 32-year-old figures to play a huge role at both this summer's Concacaf W Championship in Mexico and next summer's World Cup.

CBSSN Was Supposed To Air NWLS’s Best Rivalry; Instead The First 20 Minutes Were Bull Riding

Fans tuning in to CBSSN for one of the best rivalries in American sports on Friday night were infuriated for the first 20 minutes of the match. As the OL Reign and Portland Thorns began play at Providence Park, CBSSN was showing a got damn rodeo.

CBSSN didn’t join the Thorns-Reign match until 20 minutes had passed by, instead showing bull riding, which many consider animal abuse. The match finished in a 0-0 draw, but the story was the disrespect CBS showed women’s soccer.
