Diego Lainez Reportedly Bound For Ajax After Club Tables Bid Of Nearly $13 Million

It’s no secret that 18-year-old Mexican phenom Diego Lainez has played his last match for Club América (going out with a bang as the Apertura 2018 champion). With two El Tri appearances to his name, Lainez only further boosted his market value with two goals during América’s semifinal victory over Pumas, and it looks as though Dutch giants Ajax are about to meet the Mexican club’s valuation of the precocious winger.

Chivas Leave Club World Cup With Pitiful Showing After Loss To 9-Man African Club

It turns out, beating MLS clubs is a lot easier than beating continental champions. Chivas Guadalajara learned that the hard way this week at the Club World Cup.

While Club América was back home in Mexico winning an unprecedented 13th Liga MX title, breaking a tie with Chivas for most all time, Guadalajara was in the UAE, getting beaten by teams from Asia and Africa.

It Is Settled: Club América Is The Best Team In Liga MX History

It is settled: Club América is the best team in all Liga MX history. Beating Cruz Azul in a very level final on Sunday, Las Águilas claimed their 13th Liga MX title.

In doing so, Miguel Herrera's side surpassed Chivas Guadalajara, which has won the championship 12 times.

Edson Álvarez Prolongs The Cruz Azul Curse And Lifts América To 13th Liga MX Title

The Cruz Azul curse continues. After being repelled by a combination of Club América goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín and the crossbar in the first leg, a poor piece of attempting to play out the back ultimately doomed Cruz Azul in the second — the ever impressive Edson Álvarez punished the slack play with a curling effort from the top of the box, and then the El Tri star registered a second at the death to confirm América’s 13th title.

Cruz Azul failed to land a shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.

Agustín Marchesín Collapsing After Being Touched By The Ref Is Too Much

Nursing a 1-0 lead in the Liga MX final, Club América goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín knew what he had to do. After a sensational run by 20-year-old Cruz Azul midfielder Roberto Alvarado, the ball ended at the feet of Édgar Méndez.

Marchesín rushed out and took the ball off the feet of Méndez before he could get a shot off and potentially equalize in the 59th minute, and then the 30-year-old Argentine goalkeeper let Méndez have an earful. Referee Cesar Ramos rushed forward to separate the two, but in doing so, he gently touched the arm of Marchesín.

Chivas Blows Lead To Kashima Antlers, Denied Showdown With Real Madrid

Chivas Guadalajara got off to a dream start at the Club World Cup on Saturday.

Then it all fell apart. And with it, perhaps Mexico’s best chance to win the Club World Cup.

Asian champion Kashima Antlers rallied from an early deficit and held off a late charge to defeat Chivas 3-2 in the Club World Cup on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Kashima will now play Real Madrid in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Stop What You’re Doing Right Now And Check Out Léon’s Adorable New Mascot

The internet is full of cats. Cat videos, cat pics, cat GIFs, cat emojis. Personally, I don’t believe you can have too many cats. Case in point: this ridiculously adorable new Club Léon mascot.

While most Liga MX fans may have been gearing up for the first leg of the 2018 Apertura final on Thursday, which finished in a 0-0 draw between Cruz Azul and Club América, Club Léon unveiled its latest signing, perhaps the best offseason move of the year (in my opinion, at least).

We present to you Sambu, who is a baby lion, for obvious reasons.

Women’s Liga MX Final Illuminated By 30-Yard Wonder Strike In Front Of Over 33,000

The 2018 Liga MX Femenil Apertura Final commenced Tuesday with the first leg between Club América and Tigres at the Estadio Azteca. Given the poor state of the Azteca pitch and since the men’s Liga MX final pits América versus Cruz Azul (both tenants of the Azteca) on Dec. 13 and Dec. 16, the Femenil final was given the shaft — the game was played on a Tuesday with a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Chucky Lozano Turns Dreadful Giveaway Into Champions League Goal

PSV Eindhoven hadn’t done much in way of attacking in the opening 10 minutes of its Champions League match with Inter Milan. But one awful giveaway later, this Hirving Lozano goal vs Inter put the Dutch club on top.

In the 13th minute of their Group B match in Milan, Steven Bergwijn took advantage of some sloppy play in the back to gain possession in the attacking third. He quickly found Chucky Lozano darting into the box and the Mexico international headed the cross past Samir Handanovic for the game’s first goal.

Latest Leaks Show A Return To All Black For Mexico At The 2019 Gold Cup

According to leaks from Todo Sobre Camisetas and Footy Headlines, Mexico will look to reclaim the Gold Cup in 2019 wearing black jerseys. Back in 2015, El Tri debuted black home kits to be worn at the Copa America — the first time in nearly 50 years that Mexico had abandoned its traditional green for something more radical.
