Carli Lloyd says no one fears USWNT anymore following defeat to Mexico

Former United States women’s national team captain Carli Lloyd never shies away from criticizing the current team and gave her opinion following the stunning Gold Cup loss to Mexico on Monday.

Mexico did the unthinkable and ended their 16-game losing streak vs. the USWNT and handed the U.S. their first loss to a Concacaf opponent on home soil since Nov. 11, 2000.

Lloyd wasn’t a pundit for the game but took to Twitter to share her thoughts.

FIFA set to launch new biennial international competition called the FIFA Series

FIFA are launching a new series of friendly matches in one location during the international window called the FIFA Series, with a pilot project kicking off in four countries next month, world soccer's governing body said on Monday.

Although there are no trophies or prize money, the series is designed to benefit national teams that do not have the opportunity to play teams from other confederations, with FIFA set to cover travel costs.

Soccer fans in Los Angeles did not show out for the United States women’s national team’s 5-0 victory vs. Dominican Republic in the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup on Tuesday.

The USWNT will play all three of their group stage games at Dignity Health Sports Park, the home of the LA Galaxy. The players will be hoping the attendance improves as the tournament progresses.

On Tuesday just 3,242 fans filled the 27,000-seat stadium.
