The Greatest European Cup And UEFA Champions League Records And Statistics

The UEFA Champions League, and its predecessor the European Cup, is the most prestigious competition in all of club football. It’s where players and managers make their names, and it’s where clubs and teams become immortalized through history.

Here are some of the greatest all-time records in the Champions League as recorded by either players, managers, clubs or in single matches.

Champions League Individual Player Records

Goalkeeper with the most clean sheets: Iker Casillas (57)

John Brooks Becomes Most Expensive U.S. Player Of All-Time With Transfer To Wolfsburg

Rumors of John Brooks’ transfer from Hertha Berlin to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga have been confirmed, and the reported fee of $22.4 million makes the USMNT defender the most expensive American player of all-time.

Brooks is currently in Denver with the U.S. squad ahead of a friendly against Venezuela and two key World Cup qualifiers against Trinidad & Tobago at home and Mexico at the Azteca. The fee paid for Brooks is roughly twice as much as the previous record, the $11 million Sunderland paid AZ Alkmaar for Jozy Altidore back in 2013.

With Bans For Diving And Faking Injury Coming, Enjoy The Last And Worst Of Them All

With most domestic leagues moving towards the use of video evidence to retroactively ban players for simulation and feigning injury, and with the gradual implementation of Video Assistant Referees to stamp out the behavior altogether, football's greatest evil is heading out the door.

However, it’s literally leaving kicking and screaming like a petulant two-year-old that’s been denied viewing one more train on YouTube. The latest, and perhaps greatest, has come from 34-year-old former Serbian international Danko Lazovic in the Hungarian league.

Thomas Tuchel Is Out At Borussia Dortmund

Thomas Tuchel is out as Borussia Dortmund manager, the club announced Tuesday.

Tuchel was rumored to have been feuding with Dortmund's front office near the end of his second season in charge.

From a statement on the club's website:

Who Impressed And Who Failed Miserably In Serie A This Season?

This week, most people will be reading, talking and writing about Francesco Totti, who has now retired after playing his final game for Roma. But while everyone’s focused on Totti, let’s consider the rest of the season, indulging in one of the favorite pastimes of the calcio connoisseur: going over every detail of the previous 38 matches and putting people and teams in ranked lists.

There will be plenty of time to dissect Totti’s career in the future. Right now, we need to think about who has really impressed us this season and (more importantly) who has failed to impress.

The Taca Da Liga Final Game Ball Was Delivered By The Green Goblin

Imagine someone from the past, when comic books were a major form of entertainment, travelled forward in time to this weekend. Imagine you met them, and when they mentioned they love comic books, and now that it's the future is there any chance we've been able to give anyone superpowers yet?

Your answer would have to be that the first comic book character we'ver been able to truly recreate is the, uh, it's the Green Goblin.
