Jordan Henderson apologizes to anyone offended by his Saudi Arabia move

AMSTERDAM — Jordan Henderson, who joined Ajax Amsterdam on Thursday, has apologized again to anyone he might have offended six months after the England midfielder was the target of scathing criticism for his move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq.

The 33-year-old met with media a day after he signed with the Dutch side having terminated his contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq after six months.

A Wolverhampton Wanderers fan struggled to contain his joy when his team scored a late winner in Tuesday's FA Cup tie against Brentford after he had stepped forward from the crowd to take over fourth official duties when an assistant referee fell ill.

Ross Bennett, a referee at youth level, said he had volunteered to help when the assistant could not continue in extra time.

Valencia goalkeeper Jaume Doménech failed to punch the ball out of his box and some quick pinball action inside the 18-yard-box resulted in the ball heading straight for the 25-year-old American.

St. Louis City’s Nicholas Gioacchini might be the next USMNT player from MLS to head to Europe, with his likely destination becoming one of a full-circle move for the Italian-American.

It was reported on Sunday that Como 1907, a club competing in Italy’s Serie B second-tier, submitted a proposal to St. Louis City SC for the transfer of Gioacchini.

BURNLEY — Carlton Morris scored a controversial last-gasp goal as Luton Town escaped Turf Moor with a precious point against Burnley in a 1-1 Premier League draw on Friday between two sides fighting relegation.

The hosts looked set for victory after Zeki Amdouni's first-half goal before Morris headed in the equalizer in the 92nd minute. Burnley protested that Luton's Elijah Adebayo impeded goalkeeper James Trafford, but following a VAR check, the goal stood.

LeBron James of Soccer Christian Pulisic named Serie A Player of the Month

United States men’s national team forward Christian Pulisic has put his dogdays of Chelsea behind him and is now one of the brightest stars in Serie A being named December’s Player of the Month.

Pulisic churned out quality performances for Milan throughout the month and tallied two goals and two assists. The 25-year-old provided a goal contribution in four of Milan’s five league games in December.
