Report: Steve Cherundolo is a ‘favorite’ to replace Gregg Berhalter as USMNT head coach

Former U.S. men’s national team player and current LAFC manager, Steve Cherundolo, is a favorite from the U.S. Soccer Federation to become the USMNT’s new head coach. That’s if Gregg Berhalter is let go, of course.

Following the USMNT’s lackluster participation and ‘early’ exit from the 2024 Copa América, USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter has been under hot waters — with fans, pundits and personalities across the United States asking for the manager’s sacking.

Jesse Marsch's Canada shocks Venezuela and reaches Copa América semifinal

Jesse Marsch and The Maples have done it.

Canada booked their spot in the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 semifinals after defeating Venezuela through a penalty shoot out in an intense match held at AT&T Stadium on Friday.

The Maples hit first in just the 13th minute of the game when Cyle Larin dribbled the ball all the way into the goal line, setting up Nashville SC’s Jacob Shaffelburg to put Canada ahead. American manager Jesse March was buzzing.

Gregg Berhalter receives criticism for his ‘1-1’ message to USMNT prior to Uruguay free kick

One of the big talking points following the United States men’s national team’s 1-0 loss to Uruguay was the Gregg Berhalter 1-1 gesture to his players shortly before conceding.

Prior to Uruguay’s goal the USMNT had been given a lifeline from the other Group C game as Bolivia scored against Panama to make the score 1-1. If that game were to remain a draw and the USMNT tied Uruguay, the U.S. would advance to the knockout stage.

Watch: Referee refuses to shake Christian Pulisic’s hand after USMNT’s defeat to Uruguay

The Christian Pulisic referee handshake moment after the United States’ 1-0 defeat to Uruguay on Monday was a controversial topic of discussion.

Peruvian referee Kevin Ortega had a horrendous night of officiating for the pivotal Copa América game with a highlight reel of fails. Ortega and Pulisic often bumped heads during the fixture with the American star not impressed with Ortega’s officiating.

In the final minutes of the game Pulisic took a shot near Uruguay’s box and took a hit from behind. Pulisic furiously yelled at Ortega about no foul being called.

The draw moved Canada up to four points in Group A, five behind leaders Argentina, who had already qualified for the quarter-finals. Two-times champions Chile ended with two points and Peru finished bottom with one.

USMNT favorites to beat Uruguay, sports books say

The U.S men’s national team could have a better chance of beating Uruguay on Monday than most people believe… at least that’s what sports books say.

The USMNT will go into the last match day of the 2024 Copa América looking to get a huge win against none other than Uruguay — one of the tournament’s top contenders and best in-form national teams so far in the group stage.

U.S. Soccer and Copa América condemn online racist abuse against USMNT players following Panama loss

The U.S. soccer federation condemned the online racist abuse of their players on Thursday after their 2-1 defeat by Panama at the Copa America.

"There is absolutely no place in the game for such hateful and discriminatory behaviour," U.S. Soccer said in a statement.

"These actions are not only unacceptable but also contrary to the values of respect and inclusivity that we uphold as an organization."

What does the USMNT need to qualify for Copa América knockout rounds? Here are all the scenarios

The U.S. men’s national team is in need of that signature win under Gregg Berhalter.

Tim Weah needs to be excluded from every USMNT roster for the rest of 2024

The Tim Weah red card vs Panama in the 18th minute proved too much for Gregg Berhalter’s U.S. side in a stunning 2-1 upset that throws the USMNT’s Copa América campaign in jeopardy.

This loss is 100% on Weah’s shoulders.

In the 18th minute the Juventus player idiotically swung on Panama’s Roderick Miller off the ball. A VAR review saw Weah sent to the locker room and screw over his entire team.
