LONDON — Nottingham Forest substitute Anthony Elanga struck early in the second half to earn a 1-0 win at toothless Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 21-year-old Swede kept his cool to push the ball neatly past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in the 48th minute after being put through by Taiwo Awoniyi following a Chelsea mix-up in midfield.

A fantastic save denied Christian Pulisic his third goal of the season as AC Milan defeated Roma 2-1 in Serie A on Friday. The USMNT star played 75 minutes in the Italian capital in a relatively quiet night compared to his first two games.

Pulisic’s best chance of the game came in the 22nd minute. The American winger made a great run to get by his defender and get on the end of a beautiful cross from Theo Hernández.

Fans wondering how many Americans play in Champions League action this season will be pleased to know that nine USMNT players will compete in the competition.

The Champions League draw took place on Thursday and now we know who all the Americans will be facing in the group stage. 

Paris St Germain will kick off their quest for a maiden Champions League trophy in a strong Group F, which looks to be the Champions League Group of Death, featuring Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Newcastle United following the draw on Thursday. This means American Christian Pulisic will face his former club Dortmund as well as PSG in the opening stage of his quest for a second Champions League trophy.

Brenden Aaronson was given a red card in bizarre fashion on Saturday during Union Berlin’s 4-1 victory vs. Darmstadt.

In his second Bundesliga start with Union Berlin he had a nightmare of a day. It started off rough as he received a yellow card in the first five minutes for a high boot.

This card was debatable for being so early in the game but not too controversial.

Aaronson’s second yellow card was truly strange as the referee sent him off in the 21st minute for kicking the ball away after play was stopped.

Christian Pulisic is off to a fantastic start to his new life in Milan as he scored his second Serie A goal on Saturday during AC Milan’s 4-1 victory vs. Torino.

Pulisic opened the scoring in the 33rd minute. Milan struck on a quick attack with Pulisic slipping the ball through to his former Chelsea teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The Milan midfielder did a great job to get by his defender and then put it on a plate for Pulisic.

United States men’s national team goalkeeper Matt Turner had a solid game in goal for Nottingham Forest on Saturday vs. Manchester United despite his side losing 3-2.

Turner didn’t have it easy at Old Trafford as he made seven saves during the game. The American keeper’s best moment came in the 54th minute when Antony curled a beautiful shot on goal and Turner made a full-stretch save to deny the goal.

Folarin Balogun is nearing a big move from Arsenal to French club AS Monaco as it was reported by journalist Fabrice Hawkins on Thursday that the two clubs reached an agreement. The Balogun Monaco transfer would be permanent for €45 million ($48.6 million).

Christian Pulisic had a memorable Serie A debut with AC Milan on Monday setting up one goal and scoring one of his own in a 2-0 victory vs. Bologna.

Pulisic’s goal vs. Bologna is arguably one of the best goals in his career. In the 21st minute the USMNT star linked up beautifully with his former Chelsea teammate Olivier Giroud and then rifled a shot from 20 yards out.

Despite three Bologna defenders around him, Pulisic still got his shot off. Bologna’s goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski had no chance saving that one.
