All-Star Game Ref Cam Brings Old Nike Advertisement To Life

The 2017 MLS All-Star Game featured a referee cam that’ll remind you of one of the greatest football advertisements of all time.

When it comes to football advertisements, few have come close to matching Nike’s “Take It To The Next Level” commercials from 2008. The first-hand perspective ads put you directly in the shoes of an up-and-coming footballer, brushing shoulders with the likes of Arsene Wenger, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.

By equipping referee Allen Chapman with a camera at the 2017 MLS All-Star Game, the league was able to offer a unique perspective on the proceedings. The video features the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, David Villa, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema, and the pace and intensity of the match (even for a glorified friendly) in front of a massive crowd at Chicago’s Soldier Field makes for a remarkable three-minute viewing experience.
