Crystal Palace defeated West Ham 2-1 on Thursday thanks to an incredible solo effort from Jordan Ayew at the death. Ayew had provided the assist on Cheikhou Kouyaté’s equalizer for Palace in the 68th minute, but he saved his ultimate contribution for last.
Taking the ball out wide before making his way across the top of the box, the Ghanian promptly provided 20-year-old Declan Rice with the worst moment of his young career. Ayew’s Zidane Turn sent Rice back to London Stadium, and then he used two fast-fire touches to maneuver between challenges from the central pairing of Angelo Ogbonna and Fabián Balbuena.
The finish — a sumptuous dink over Roberto — was an entirely fitting end to it all. Here’s the view from behind the goal at Selhurst Park.
