The Premier League’s Goal of the Month for August hasn’t officially been decided, but we’re almost positive that the debate was settled today. Unless tomorrow’s fixture between Manchester United and Tottenham produces a worldie, it almost certainly belongs to Fulham’s Jean Seri.
During week one of the 2018-19 EPL season, we figured that Ruben Neves might’ve secured the prize with his sumptuous free kick against Everton.
That, however, was bettered in week two after Callum Wilson produced a fine solo goal against West Ham.
But Fulham’s new Ivorian surely captured top honors with his missile against Burnley today. The rocket arrived only four minutes into the match, and a brace from Aleksandar Mitrovic and a goal from fellow new boy Andre Schurrle helped Fulham to a 4-2 win over Burnley.
It’s obviously not the result Burnley was looking for ahead of Thursday’s Europa League playoff fixture against Olympiakos. Given the 3-1 deficit in that competition and Burnley’s current standing of 18th in the EPL, elimination from European competition might not be met with too much disappointment at Turf Moor.
