That’s gotta burn — Vini Jr mocks Ronald Araújo with Instagram post after El Clásico win

Vinícius Jr’s direct and now classic on-field battle with FC Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo transcended from the pitch and onto social media, with the Brazilian winger clapping back at the Barça defender’s controversial and famous phrase after an El Clásico win. All it took was a cold Instagram caption.

Vinicius Jr mocks Ronald Araújo with picture captioned “new era.”

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in Saturday’s newest edition of El Clásico after another sublime performance from Jude Bellingham who scored a brace to seal the result in the closing minutes of the game. He’s as clutch as clutch gets.

Despite the victory, the game for the Merengues wasn’t all filled with sunshine and rainbows, especially for Vinícius Jr.

The new Real Madrid No. 7 had a tough time creating chances for the away side in the attack, lacking ideas in the last third and having little, to no impact for his team in any of the two goals scored for their crucial victory.

His highlight was celebrating and pointing at the Real Madrid fans who made the trip after being subbed off in added time. Ancelotti had to pull him away from arguing with the assistant referee.

It would also be fair to say that Vini’s performance was in great measure caused by Araújo, who was placed on the right-back position by Xavi Hernández to challenge Vini on the wing. The Uruguayan got the best out of the Brazilian on this occasion.

The Clásico chronicles of Vini vs. Araújo.

Poor game and all, though, Vini Jr. didn’t let his lackluster performance get in the way of celebrating the win on social media, using it as a golden opportunity to hit back and take a dig at Araújo off the pitch.

The Brazilian posted a picture of the Merengue squad celebrating Jude Bellingham’s last-minute winner with the caption “New era,” a direct mocking response to a Ronaldo Araújo video in celebration of Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup win over Real Madrid in 2021 where he claimed that a new era had started following their victory. "A new era has started" said Araújo.

Two years later, Vinícius did not forget.

We will see if this Vinícius dig at Araújo rumbles its way onto the next LaLiga El Clásico, where the Uruguayan, along with the rest of the Barcelona squad, will want to get their “get-back.”
