Guillaume Restes is a Toulouse native who rose through their youth teams after joining the club’s academy at just six years old.
Despite his young age he won the goalkeeping job for the club this summer and has started every game for the club in the 2023-24 season. What a moment that must’ve been to lead the chants of the club he’s been with his whole childhood.
Victories haven’t come easy for Toulouse this season as the club sit 14th in Ligue 1 with two wins in 11 attempts. The Europa League campaign has seen Toulouse record two wins in four games.
The upset vs. Liverpool was massive for Toulouse as it puts the French side second in the group two points behind Liverpool and three ahead of Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. Restes made three saves during the game.
Restes and the fans were a little noisy for Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp’s liking as the drums and cheering could be heard from the press conference room. Klopp was less than pleased.
