The honor for scoring the best goal of the year in the world in 2023, the Puskás award, has a new heavyweight contender.
During a U-20 Copa do Brasil game between Internacional and Gremio there was a goal that brought the house down and spread like wildfire on the internet.
With Gremio leading 1-0 late in the game, Internacional’s Lucca attempted one of the most audacious efforts imaginable. After chipping the ball over a defender, he pulled off an incredible scissor kick.

Golazo!
Lucca turned 20 in April of this year, but he has most likely already scored the best goal he’ll have in his entire career.
The goal itself looks like it’s from a video game. For my FIFA connoisseurs out there, Lucca’s goal reminds me of when you put the sliders on so that shot accuracy and power are at 99. The perfect strike with the perfect placement.
Unfortunately for Lucca and Internacional, Gremio went on to win in a penalty shootout to advance past the first round.
Internacional might have the incredibly unlikely outcome of winning the best goal of the tournament despite only scoring once.
