I’ll admit, when I first saw Bleacher Report put out a Champions League cartoon, I ignored it because I assumed they wouldn’t produce anything funny. Then I accidentally watched some during TNT’s pregame show.
Created by Andy Haynes and directed by Adam and Craig Malamut, who did Game of Zones for Bleacher Report, The Champions is a goofy look at the stars of the Champions League in animated shorts. And, surprisingly, it’s kinda funny.
Filled with little zingers making fun of just about every big-name player in the Champions League (sorry Eden Hazard), The Champions will probably get at least a couple chuckles out of you.
Some of my favorites bits: Arjen Robben gets burned for diving, Neymar can’t handle Kylian Mbappé’s success, Harry Kane is unintelligible and Mo Salah jokes about the Puskas Award he won because Liverpool fans broke the voting process.
Here’s a list of all the episodes released thus far, with a short synopsis of each.
