Back in 1974, adidas began associating itself with the “Impossible is Nothing” slogan, which was an extract from a Muhammad Ali quote.
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
That slogan came back in a big way in 2004 with an “Impossible is Nothing” campaign featuring Ali, who was joined in a memorable ad titled “The Long Run” by David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Laila Ali, Tracy McGrady, Ian Thorpe, Haile Gebrselassie and Maurice Green.
Adidas is now bringing it back with a new “Impossible is Nothing” campaign that focuses on those who’ve embodied that Ali quote. The company’s YouTube channel now features 17 short films that share the inspirational stories of these icons of sport and culture, including Mohamed Salah, Paul Pogba, Serge Gnabry, Charlyn Corral, Beyoncé, the WNBA, New Zealand All Blacks and Damian Lillard.
